It was freezing cold today, but the sun was shining, so I decided to take Marvin out for a walk anyway. It was a long time since I had taken him outside of the house, so I was a little scared that he might feel dizzy and make strange barks, but as soon as I saw the beaming light of early afternoon reflecting on his polished cobalt blue sides I knew I did the right thing. I opted to wear the net ballerinas, which I know for sure he loves best, and when I inserted the key and pressed down on the gas pedal Marvin giggled, his youthful and energetic engine roaring, kind of like thanking me. He looked so beautiful today, you had to be there to testify his rebirth. I held the black leather steering wheel tight. Marvin glided on the pavement like a champion ice skater, it was so smooth and it felt like flying.
You might think I’m just a lunatic babushka-looking neighbor, the one you do your best to dodge whenever you’re in a hurry-type of gal’, and maybe I might be, but who cares. I treat Marvin as someone else might treat their human baby.

Cars are just so decadent.
Crimson red, cobalt blue, pine green, khaki beige... when I was a child my dad used to buy me little toy cars, bringing them back from business trips that made us grow distant. They were so little and accurate
I used to play with them in an apparently odd manner: one at a time, I grasped them tightly between my hands, closed my eyes and there I was, driving freely through vast and brightly coloured landscapes.
I wasn’t even perhaps on Earth, instead I was crossing reddish deserts, or even stepping my feet, or should I say tyres, on the Sun itself, ‘cause sometimes I was surrounded by a brightness that almost made me blind, my only certainty being the car I was on.
Earning money, I started buying the very same car models I kept so avidly in miniature size, only this time they were real. Jessica came by, glossy brunette mesmerising body, and touching her, putting my body in all the strangest positions as long as it could feel the contact with her. Then It was the turn of Marvin, good old Marvin, the things we didn’t do... Then Harper, Sophia and Cadence came...
Every year my dreams became more vivid and my collection more prosperous... But I think I already spoiled too much.

When the hot summer air starts showing its presence,
I know it is time to play. Jack eventually comes over.
I open the passenger door for it (talk about
gallantry), I take place on the driver’s seat, put on my
sunglasses and a scarf to prevent my hair getting messy
(said it’s about to get windy), and I just press the gas.
Where are we headed?
- asks Jack as usual - wait and see darling, wait and see.
